Accommodation

This Moddy 31 MK II offers six berths in two double cabins plus two singles in the saloon. The saloon has approximately 6' 2" maximum headroom. "Koala" has a V berth forward with infill to convert to a double berth, seat and good storage with a Wardrobe, cupboard and side shelves.

The saloon has settee berths either side of the central table with useful stowage in various lockers and cupboards. Galley aft to starboard consisting of a Plastimo Neptune 2500 2-burner gas cooker with grill and oven, top loading fridge, stainless steel sink and storage.

There is a separate heads compartment aft to port with Jabsco marine toilet (new 2013), washbasin, shower and opening portlight. In front of the heads is the Navigation area with charitable and storage for books and charts.

Aft of the Galley is a double aft cabin with hanging locker, storage and portlight.There is a Mikuni diesel fired heating system with timer and outlets in saloon, heads, fore and aft cabins. The Galley and Heads have pressurised hot and cold water supply via a calorifier with immersion coil. Fully re-upholstered throughout with light blue valour fabric all-new 2014. Teak and holly saloon floor with blue carpets throughout.

Mechanical Systems

Located under companionway, Volvo 2003 28hp 3-cylinder diesel engine Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Single lever controls with electric start.

Shaft drive via reduction gearbox through a PSS seal to a two-bladed fixed pitch propeller with an Ambassador rope cutter. In 2010 the engine mounts and shaft were replaced. The shaft seal was new in 2014, and in 2003 the Volvo plate drive modification was completed.

The engine appears to be in excellent condition and has been serviced annually by her current owner. She has a 20-gallon steel fuel tank with in-line filter/water trap and inspection tube fuel gauge. She will cruise at 4Knots and has a max speed of 7 knots.

Electrical Systems

3 x 12v batteries ( 1 x Domestic, 1 x Engine new May 2017 and 1 x Anchor windlass) charging via engine alternator, CTECH M100 battery charger (new May 2014) and Solar panel with charge controller. 240v Shorepower system with ring mains, Full cabin lighting. Battery isolator switches.

Sails & Spars

Masthead Bermudan sloop rig. Silver anodised aluminium mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging new 2010. Terylene running rigging. Slab reefing mainsail with stackpack system (new 2014). Rotostay headsail furling system.

Construction

Moody 31 MKII built in 1991 by Marine Projects (Plymouth) Ltd to a Bill Dixon design. White GRP hull with styles stripes coachroof and light grey decks with moulded non-slip surfaces. Cast iron bilge keels. Tiller steering to skeg hung rudder. Self-draining cockpit and anchor well. Alloy toe rails. Sugar scoop type transom. This yacht was last surveyed in January 2016, and all of the recommendations except for the replacement of the freshwater tank were completed. Last out of the water in July 2018 when the hull was polished, anodes changed and antifouled.

This yacht has been used by the Coastguard to participate in Highline transfer training.
